BCT is pleased to participate with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and IBM in the Department of Defense (DoD) Mentor-Protégés Program. This program was enacted by Congress in 1990 to provide incentives for major DoD prime contractors (Mentors) to help Small Businesses (Protégés) develop technical and business capabilities. The goal of the program is to assist protégés to successfully compete for prime contract and subcontract awards. This is accomplished through technical and developmental assistance from the mentor to the Protégé. Successful Mentor-Protégés agreements provide a winning relationship for the Protégés, the mentor and the DoD.
BCT was selected by IBM (Mentor) and accepted into their Protégés Program in September 2011. Our Government Sponsor is the National Geospatial Agency (NGA) and this BCT/IBM/NGA relationship will function for 3 years to leverage BCT's experience and extensive capabilities. Some of the incentives of the Mentor-Protégés program that accrue to BCT are an increasingly closer relationship with IBM; the development of a relationship with a new customer (NGA); fully funded training in several disciplines for BCT employees, primarily Information Assurance/Information Security; IBM Technical Training (full access to the IBM Software and Systems Training Curricula and PMP Professional Training), CISSP Security Training, and INCOSE training. Additionally BCT is being branded with this completely redesigned website and the production of new recruiting and Job Fair materials.
The Department of Defense Mentor-Protégé Program was established to increase the number of small businesses who were involved in the Defense Industry. More information on the DoD MPP is available here.DoD Mentor-Protégé Program
