Our corporate culture reflects our values, visions and beliefs. We consider it our moral and ethical responsibility to make a difference in the lives of our employees and the world in which we live. To assist in education, medical, and charity needs, we support missions in South Dakota, Kentucky, Honduras, Nicaragua, China, among others through both financial support and volunteers efforts.
South Dakota Mission
BCT supported a mission trip to construct a teacher residence for Windswept Academy in Eagle Butte, South Dakota. This Academy meets the needs of children of the Cheyenne River Lakota Nation, who suffer from poverty, poor nutrition, and sub-standard education. The new residence is for use by visiting volunteer teachers who travel great distances to the school, especially during the bitter South Dakota winters.
High unemployment in the coal mining regions of eastern Kentucky has led to poverty for many of the families living there. BCT supports a ministry which delivers much-needed food, clothing, and school supplies to impoverished families in the small town of Hi Hat, KY. Three times each year, Oak Hill Baptist Church in Crossville, TN collects the items to be delivered and organizes and manages the deliveries to New Beginnings Church in Hi Hat. New Beginnings then distributes the items to the local families. Because of BCT's generous contributions, the amount of food, clothing, and supplies that have been delivered has increased greatly and many more families in the region have been helped.
While social conditions in Nicaragua are slowly improving, there remain millions of citizens who continue to suffer from malaria, poor diet, and other health problems. A high incidence of infectious diseases remains, with malaria and tuberculosis being particularly prevalent. For example, over several years, we have assisted the northeastern villages of Condega and Ranchos by building a medical and nutrition center, a school and a church. Support include food, clothing, and scholarships.
We also provided support to a mission trip to Jinotepe in the southwest, less than 30 miles from the Capital, Managua. Jenny and her brother Glenn along with other volunteers worked at an orphanage.
Summit Grove Camp, PA
BCT supports Summit Grove, a Year Round Christian Camp for Family retreats, conferences and summer camps for InterCity kids. It's history goes back 200 years. Summit Grove Christian Conference Center also seeks to provide facilities and programs for concentrated times of study, prayer, and enrichment. The outdoor setting provides a special atmosphere for individuals to think creatively.
Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA)
We contribute to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America to sponsor Heather, the daughter of one of our employees in a CCFA-sponsored Half Marathon. The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cures for Crohn's Disease and ulcerative colitis.
